Shop Road Widening
District 10
The project consists of widening the existing roadway to five lanes (two lanes in each direction with a 13-foot center median) with 5’ bike lanes, curb and gutter, and sidewalks on both sides of the road from the intersection with George Rogers Blvd. toward Mauney Drive for an approximate distance of 2.2 miles. No improvements will be done to the roadway at the intersection with George Rogers Blvd.

Project Status:
- The project is advancing through ROW acquisition and ongoing design coordination, with several early-phase components completed and others actively in progress. ROW plans: 100% complete. SCDOT ATP with ROW received on 2/17/26. Environmental: 90% complete; Ph. 2 Environmental Site Assessment complete. ROW acquisition: 5% complete. Title work finalized; acquisition efforts underway with property owner coordination. Utility coordination & design: 60% complete(preliminary utility report nearing completion) & design 30% complete (ongoing; coordinated with drainage design). It is not anticipated that easements will be needed at any point in the project. Railroad Coordination 5% complete: Traffic control, signing, and pavement marking plans initiated. Geo-technical report complete, drainage design alternatives under review. ROW staking ~60% complete. Developer coordination: ongoing to reduce rework and align designs. Current efforts are focused on ROW acquisition, utility coordination, particularly with railroad. Construction timing will be finalized once ROW activities and approvals progress further.
