Crane Creek Greenway

District 4

Project scope is to design a recreational greenway from the Columbia canal diversion dam (headgates) extending north along the west side of the Broad River across Smith Branch, then turn toward the edge of Broad River and continue north along the river’s edge crossing over Crane Creek and terminating just north of Crane Creek. Design a bridge across Smith Branch to carry City of Columbia specified vehicles and pedestrian crossing over Crane Creek.

 

 

Project Status:

  • The Crane Creek Greenway project has been re-advertised through Procurement following revisions to incorporate the required South Carolina contractor licensing provisions for the bridge components. The pre-bid conference has been conducted, and bidder questions are being received and addressed through the official OpenGov process. Both the Land Disturbance Permit and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit verification
    (SAC-2023-01427) remain in place, with all major regulatory approvals secured. Procurement activities are progressing through the bidding phase, with bid opening scheduled for mid-August and contract award anticipated following the County Council's August recess.
