Atlas Road Widening Phase 1A – Utility Installation
Expected Completion: 06/01/2026
The widening of Atlas Road from 2 lanes to 5 lanes between Shop Road and Garners Ferry Road. Phase 1A covers all utility relocation work.
PROJECT STATUS: Notice to Proceed issued for November 11, 2024. Utility installation underway.
Phase 1B – Roadway
The widening of Atlas Road from 2 lanes to 5 lanes between Shop Road and Garners Ferry Road. Project will include 2 bike lanes, curb and gutter and two sidewalks.
PROJECT STATUS: Construction start will be confirmed based on Phase 1A progress.
Phase 2
The widening of Atlas Road from 2 lanes to 3 lanes between Bluff Road and Shop Road. Improvements will include 2 bike lanes, curb and gutter and 2 sidewalks.
PROJECT STATUS: Plans are being updated per SCDOT comments.

Completed Bluff Road Improvement Phase 2
Expected Completion: 05/15/2027
The proposed descope for this project includes installing a traffic signal at Bluff\Bluff Industrial, perform intersection improvements as needed, and then resurface the road.
Pre-Design Design / Right of Way Construction Completed Blythewood Road Area Improvements
Expected Completion: 03/01/2027
The proposed scope recommends roadway improvements in the Blythewood Road area specific to a prioritized listing as provided by the Town of Blythewood.
• Priority #1- Widen and improve McNulty Street from Main Street to Blythewood Road;
• Priority #2- Widen, extend and improve Creech Road from Blythewood Road to Main Street;
Pre-Design Design / Right of Way Construction Completed Blythewood Road Widening
Expected Completion: 10/01/2025
The proposed scope recommends a 5-lane (4 travel lanes with a center turn lane) improvement from I-77 west to Syrup Mill Road. Provisions for bicycle and pedestrian accommodation are proposed through construction of offset, shared use paths. This project also includes a double-lane roundabout at the intersection of Community Road and Cobblestone. Leftover funds from Blythewood Area Improvements will be moved over to cover the shortage on this project once approved by County Council.

Expected Completion: 06/01/2027
The scope of the proposed neighborhood improvement project(s) will be determined in Phase 1 (concept phase) of this project. Project(s) and scope options will be selected directly from the approved Richland County Neighborhood Master Plan and refined based upon public and stakeholder input and available funding.

Expected Completion: 11/01/2028
The proposed scope recommends a 5-lane section (4 travel lanes and a center turn lane) between Royal Tower Drive and Dutch Fork Road. Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations shall include on-street bike lanes and sidewalks.
Pre-Design Design / Right of Way Construction Completed Clemson/Sparkleberry Intersection
Expected Completion: 03/01/2027
The proposed scope recommends improvements to the Clemson Road and Sparkleberry Lane intersection to increase intersection capacity. The project limits along Clemson Road begin at the Corporate Park Drive/Frontage Road Intersection and end at Sparkleberry Crossing Road intersection and the limits along Sparkleberry Lane begin at Clemson Road and end at Mallet Hill Drive.

Expected Completion: 01/01/2028
The proposed project is a greenway which bypasses the congested areas around Columbia Mall, beginning at Trenholm Road North of O’Neil Ct. to Trenholm Road South of Dent Middle School.
